This Album was inspired by Captain Sir John Franklin's Lost Expedition, a British Voyage of Arctic Exploration that departed with 129 Men from England in 1845.
Both Ships, called Erebus & Terror, became icebound and after being trapped and suffering in ethernal coldness for over a year, the remaining Sailormen decided to abandon their Ships. Trying to survive, they set out for the Canadian Mainland but disappeared.
Their frozen bodies might still be out there.

The Album comes as Digipack with oilpainted Artwork-Cover by Pradika Lahitama Reffananda and Booklet with all Lyrics.

about

Robert Frost once wrote a poem that I used as a model for this song. It fits the story perfectly.
The song has a very untypical structure.
Since the poem does not have any repetitions in the verses, I have also created a song without repetitions musically, a story that is told musically as it progresses and at the end merges into a canon.
During the song, there are both somewhat quieter passages and bombastic elements.
The basic idea is that the author of the poem lies on the ice, dying and almost frozen to death, and carves a farewell greeting into the icy snow with his last will.

lyrics

Daidalos - Poem in the Snow

The shattered Water made a misty din
Great Waves looked over others coming in
And thought of doing something to the Shore
That Water never did to Land before

The Clouds were low and hairy in the Skies
Like locks blown forward in the Gleam of Eyes
You could not tell and yet it looked as if
The Shore was lucky in being backed by Cliff

I wrote a Poem in the Snow
My last Words forever shown
Poem in the Snow
My last Words
Icewind has blown

The Cliff is being backed by Continent
It looked as if a Night of dark intent was coming
And not only a Night an Age
Someone had better been prepared for Rage

There would be more than ocean Water broken
Before Gods last put out the Light was spoken

Storms will rise
Seaman Cries
Sea to Ice
Seaman dies

All is bright
I can´t see
Icecold Needles blinding me
Daylight burns
Night has frozen
I accept the Fate I`ve chosen

about

Daidalos Brunswick, Germany

DAIDALOS was founded in 2020 as a one-man band by Tobias Püschner.

The original idea was to write Blackmetal songs just by piano&drums.
But after an experiment of creating atmospheric breakdowns between the heroic but hopeless mental state of Sir John Franklin´s Arctic Expedition, a concept for "The Expedition" was born.
Still in the lead of the piano, eight symphonic Dark Metal songs arised.
